The Micra was introduced by Japanese manufacturers, Nissan in 1982.

Nissan then introduced the Micra K10 into motorsport five years later. This was a hit with Japanese drivers but didn’t prove so successful with Swedish rally driver, Per Eklund who finished the 1988 RAC Rally in a disappointing 21 st place and the 1989 Acropolis Rally in a slightly better 10 th position. The Micra rally car was later adapted and released in Japan as a road car, the March Superturbo.
In 1993, when in its second generation, the Micra won the European Car of the Year award, a first for a Japanese manufacturer. It also won the Good Design Award and Car of the Year in Japan that same year.
From 1998 all Micras were manufactured with power steering as standard, making these little cars even easier and more pleasurable to drive.
The latest Micra is available in two new grades: the dynamic SPORT and sporty 160SR, with a 1.6L engine which can deliver up to 110 HP and over 150 Nm torque on the higher grades. Prices start from just £8,175, making the Micra an absolute snip for eager young drivers.
Ford Focus (1998-2004, 2005) Since its launch in 1998, the Ford Focus has fast become the most sought after car in the UK. The Focus, with engine sizes ranging from 1.4L to 2.0L, is sold in most Ford markets worldwide.
Outstandingly, the Focus has won more than 60 awards. Among these awards are 13 for Car of the Year in Europe and North America and best family car ever from Autocar UK in 2003. In 2005, a poll carried out by Men & Motors placed the Focus as number 19 in the nation’s favourite 100 cars of all time and during both 2001 and 2002 the Focus was the world’s best selling car.
The 2005 range has features such as fully reclining seats for ultimate comfort and central locking for a safer, more practical car.
A combination of its sporty yet smart design makes the Focus a stylish but affordable choice for young professionals.
What more can I say about the Focus? This group four car, starting at £11, 245 is an absolute bargain that will even keep your car insurance rates cheap.
