Stunned police in Cumbria clocked a 21-year-old driving at 113mph - almost double legal limits for the stretch of road.
Michael Sanderson of Plumbland, Cumbria, now faces a 12 -month driving ban, a £300 fine and the loss of his licence.
He must also find the money to pay for young driver car insurance in a year's time. Considering his conviction, even today's cheap online car insurance quotes will run into the thousands.
Sanderson is considering swapping his treasured Honda Civic for a cheaper car and putting the leftover cash towards an online car insurance premium when he is able to drive again.
In court, a repentant Sanderson detailed his plans for getting around in the next year: "I have got my bike ready to use to visit my girlfriend and I get picked up every day for work. I don't think I will lose my job.
"My mum was not happy about this," he added.
