British booze cruisers should check car insurance policies

Two million of us embark on booze cruises to France, Belgium and Spain every year to stock up on cheap goodies for special occasions.

A 2005 survey by Lloyds TSB Car Insurance revealed that one third of us aimed to spend £100 or more on alcohol while one in every ten booze cruisers intend to buy £500 worth of drink this year.

However, when planning these trips it is important for British motorists to thoroughly check out their car insurance policies. When travelling on foreign roads good vehicle insurance cover is essential in case you encounter any difficulties abroad.

Many motorists may automatically assume that their car insurance policy covers them for a quick trip across the channel. This may not necessarily be the case. Rather than being stranded on the continent following an accident with little more than a slab of brie and 12 cases of cheap plonk to keep you going a quick call to your motor insurance company will ensure you are covered for any eventuality.

*A replacement car can usually be arranged under any of the following conditions:

1.Non fault accident – where we have the name, car registration number and insurance details of the person who caused the accident, we will supply a replacement car on a credit hire basis. This means the charges for this service will be passed onto the insurance company of the person who was responsible for the accident. This service may not be available where we are unable to get an admission of liability from their insurance company, or wherethe driver is unknown or uninsured.
