Car insurance firm issues World Cup warning

It hit the headlines last week that a footy fan has insured himself against the psychological trauma he is liable to suffer if England get prematurely knocked out of the world cup.

Paul Hucker stands to pocket a £1million payout if Sven's men fail to progress from the group stages, although he will have to satisfy a series of criteria set down by the insurers in order to receive the money.

Football fans taking out insurance policies might seem a little strange, but one type of cover that many St George-waving supporters will find themselves in need of this summer is car insurance.

With tens of thousands planning to pile across to the Continent in cars, vans and on motorbikes to see England's bid for World Cup glory, motor insurance companies are warning of the importance of ensuring drivers have proper cover.

Mike Page from Hoot Car Insurance Services, the expert young driver car insurance providers, said, "It's absolutely essential that you've got adequate motor insurance cover if you're planning to drive to Germany this summer.

"Some policies include basic cover for driving in Europe, but it's definitely worth checking with your provider because you really don't want to be caught out."

Germany's roads will be jam-packed this summer and so the chance of an accident, however careful you are, will be much higher than normal. Car insurance is a must, and with Wayne Rooney's busted foot, it's already looking like there's going to be tears on the pitch - just make sure there aren't tears on the road too.
