The latest research from a motor insurance firm has told us what we already know - that British drivers think speed cameras are pointless.
Swifcover.com, a supplier of cheap car insurance, discovered that UK motorists thought speed cameras were only the tenth most effective way of improving road safety. They placed them behind a whole host of speed reducing methods including bumps, chevrons, speed-activated warning signs and driver education schemes.
A spokesman from Swiftcover.com said, "People are fed up with the imposition of speed cameras on every corner, but, more importantly, believe that they are failing to fulfil their key objective of improving road safety."
Mike Page from Hoot Car Insurance Services, the expert young driver car insurance providers, also commented on the survey's findings, saying, "It's common knowledge that the majority of drivers have a severe aversion to speed cameras, and this research goes some way to supporting that view."
