Baby seat regulations welcomed by
car insurance firm

The car insurance provider Norwich Union has given its backing to the latest government standards concerning child and baby seats.

The latest regulations require under-threes to use a booster seat and all children under the age of 12 to be provided with an appropriate restraint. The ruling comes after research has found that children smaller than 4'11" (150cm) are not properly protected by seatbelts. It is also now illegal for babies to use a rear-facing seat if the vehicle is fitted with an airbag.

Andy Boyd, spokesman for the motor insurance provider, commented, "These measures will further protect children travelling in all vehicles and represents an appropriate tightening of the existing rules."

Hoot Car Insurance Services, the expert young driver car insurance provider, has also welcomed the changes.

A spokesperson said, "A lot of our customers have young kids and so anything that goes some way to ensuring their safety is fantastic news.
