Car insurance news
A Scottish driver will be unable to take advantage of the fantastic deals on young driver car insurance after being told by a judge that he is almost certainly going to be sent to prison.
22-year-old William Williams pleaded guilty to theft, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified and driving with no car insurance at Edinburgh Sheriff Court after an incident on November 11th, 2005.
Williams, already the possessor of a long record of serious offending, stole a Ford Fiesta and rammed a patrol car when police tried to block his escape route. In trying to make his getaway, he then smashed into a lamppost and careered into a parked Peugeot.
The driver of the Peugeot had only just strapped her young child into its car seat and narrowly avoided serious injury when Williams collided with her vehicle. Eventually arrested by police, the young criminal then launched an unprovoked attack on a custodyofficer, assaulting him with a vicious headbutt.
Sentencing was deferred for background reports, but Williams was told to expect a custodial sentence.
Hearing about the incident, Mike Page from Hoot Car Insurance Services, specialists in providing young driver car insurance deals, said, "Anyone who drives without motor insurance is a risk to both themselves and other road users.
"With the amazing deals that are available nowadays on cheap car insurance, there’s no excuse for being uninsured and the police will come down hard on anyone they find who isn’t properly covered."
