Car insurance news

Frightening accident stats released

A new study has revealed that the average British driver will be involved in a car accident every six and a half years.

That’s nine accidents in a lifetime, a fact that makes sobering reading and just highlights the need for proper car insurance cover.

In line with the statistics, the Government have announced that they want to cut accidents in the UK by 40% by 2010, a massive target and one which we, the young drivers of Britain are tasked with achieving.

Young drivers are responsible for a large percentage of accidents on the road, and motor insurance premiums reflect this. Specialist young driver car insurance firms have managed to readdress the balance slightly and offer reduced prices, but until the number of accidents is reduced, us youngsters are still going to have to pay more for our motor insurance.

The study also revealed that an enormous proportion of the population, 73%, will be the victims of car theft during their lifetime; yet another reason to buy adequate car insurance.

Mike Page, spokesman for Hoot Car Insurance, specialists in youngdriver car insurance, commented, "These statistics are quite shocking. It’s scary to think that we'll be involved in nine accidents during our life and there’s not much we can do about it except ensure that we’re protected by proper motor insurance."
