Motorists throughout the UK are being encouraged to drive more environmentally-sound cars with the promise of cheap car insurance deals.
Following the announcement from More Than that they are offering cheaper car insurance rates for drivers of hybrid cars, other car insurance companies may soon follow suit.
Hybrid cars, which are powered by a combination of petrol and electricity, use less fuel and have fewer CO2 emissions, making them easier on the environment.
But, savings for hybrid drivers does not stop at low cost motor insurance. Those that choose to drive hybrids also receive a reduction on their road tax and are exempt from the London congestion charge.
Mike Page, a spokesperson from Hoot Car Insurance Service comments: 'With increasing concern about the state of the earth some environmental action needs to be taken and encouragement from car insurers is one place to start.
'Online car insurance companies such as Hoot already offer cheap car insurance rates. But, it is a good idea to encourage young drivers to be environmentally aware so that they continue to think this way throughout their driving career and since we specialise in cheap car insurance for young drivers we will give it some serious thought.'
