It seems that the car insurance industry has finally come to the conclusion that UK online car insurance which offers legal expenses insurance may be both the safest and cheapest route for drivers to take.
David Woodcock realised the benefits of legal expenses cover when his car was hit by a lorry on a roundabout. His car was a write-off and he suffered a whiplash injury and damage to his knee.
There were no witnesses to the accident and the lorry driver did not admit liability. This meant that David had to claim on his fully-comprehensive cover with motor insurance provider, Cornhill Direct.
But 56-year-old David then recalled paying for legal expenses cover as an add-on to his car insurance policy. He made his claim and finally received £2,000 compensation for his injuries and his claims record was wiped clean, meaning that he will not lose his no claims bonus and face a rise in his car insurance rate.
An absence of legal expenses cover would have caused David to accumulate significant costs had he decided to pursue the case since solicitor's fees can reach upwards of £100 per hour and double this amount when in the court room.
