Shocked Scottish police videotaped a young driver doing nearly 60mph in a 40 zone - with his hands behind his head.
30-year-old Hossein Aramoon claimed stress had led him into performing the outrageous trick on the A8 near Edinburgh. He pleaded guilty to dangerous driving whilst in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
As a first time offender and the sole guardian of a young daughter, Aramoon was let off with a community service order rather than a jail term. He will lose his licence and young driver car insurance and will have to sit an extended test if he wants to drive again in the future.
"I saw the video and it clearly showed you had both hands behind your head," said Sherriff Gordon Liddle.
"It looked like someone acting wantonly, with no care for other road users."
Mike Page, motor insurance quote guru and outspoken spokesman for the cheap car insurance experts at Hoot, said "Driving no-handed could earn you a living in Hollywood - but in this country it'll probably just double your motor insurance quote.
"I don't mind the thought of him getting back behind the wheel - just so long as he keeps both hands on it," he added.
