Car insurance news
If you want to avoid a hike in your car insurance premium it might be best to avoid the infamous Magic Roundabout on Swindon's A4312.
This monstrosity of motoring madness has recently come out on top of a survey of the UK's least popular roundabouts, with many drivers often getting confused and heading off in the wrong direction, while others simply can't handle the confusion and collide with other motorists.
Roundabouts are traditionally accident blackspots with many motorists losing their option of finding a cheap car insurance deal after coming a cropper attempting to navigate the lanes successfully.
But it's not only the Magic Roundabout that is such an object of abomination among British drivers. Other infamous roundabouts to figure in the survey included the Plough in Hemel Hempstead and the curiously named Pork Pie in Leicester, which just also happens to be the city’s worst site for accidents.
At the other end of the scale was Canary Wharf's tree-shaped traffic light sculpture roundabout in London, which was voted as the best-looking in the UK.
Andrew Goodsell, chief executive of Saga Motor Insurance, who conducted the survey, said, "It is interesting that the favourites appear to have been chosen for their aesthetic quality rather than ease of navigation, while the worst have been selected for the opposite reasons."
