Mobile phone providers to offer car insurance

Mobile phones are set to become the next major channel for the distribution of car insurance, industry experts have predicted.

Bob Hand from Affinity Solutions said he expected companies such as O2, Vodafone and Orange to make a big push into the market, saying, "As mobile technologies converge and the major telecoms brands get stronger, this will certainly be a growth area."

"People will be able to watch television, make calls and access the internet using the same handset and an obvious step is to providefinancial services as well."

With most of us younger generation never being more than a few feet away from our mobile, this news can only be bonus, meaning that we can now get cheap deals on young driver car insurance without even having to go online.

Several firms have already launched a scheme that enables potential customers to text their interest to a car insurance provider, and they will then receive a phone call back offering them a quote.

17 to 35-year-olds are expected to be the main targets of any new mobile phone motor insurance schemes that are launched, and they stand to make great savings if they deal specifically with a specialist young driver car insurance firm that can offer them fantastic prices.
