We may just see our car as a pile of rusty metal that gets us to work and back, but the latest research from a motor insurance company has found that cars are a tremendous source of happy memories.
Car insurance provider Lloyds TSB discovered that a quarter of the British population had their first snog in a car, while 3% actually got engaged on the back seat. Other activities regularly taking place on the back seat were not included in the survey.
14% of those questioned went as far as to describe their relationship with their four-wheeled friend as love, while many young drivers admitted to giving their vehicle a name.
The research also revealed that the average person spends a whopping three years of their life behind the wheel, truly making us a nation of car-loving obsessives.
Phil Loney from Lloyds TSB Car Insurance said, "All the love in the world cannot protect our cars against the dangers on the road and it is absolutely vital that all drivers have adequate insurance."
