A young man from Lancashire is unlikely to get a cheap car insurance deal for many years to come after smashing his sports car into a house at more than 80mph.
Usman Hussain lost control of his Toyota MR2 whilst speeding through Blackburn last September, skidding across the carriageway and slamming into the side of a house. He had been racing another motorist at the time and eyewitnesses branded it a miracle that nobody was killed.
21-year-old Hussain suffered serious injuries in the accident but managed to free himself from the wreckage and flee the scene. Locals called the police and the fugitive was soon arrested.
A woman living near to where the incident occurred said, "I heard a bang and when I opened my window the red car was there. The car was still running and looked like it was going to blow up. I told people to stay away because it was dangerous.
"If someone had been in the house it could have killed them.
"The boy was lucky; I don't know how he survived."
Appearing in court, Hussain pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified, driving without motor insurance, failing to stop, failing to report an accident and driving without due care and attention. Slamming his actions, magistrates jailed him for 174 days and banned him from the road for four years.
A spokesman for Hoot Car Insurance Services, the young driver car insurance experts, commented, "It's amazing that nobody died as a result of this lad's ridiculous driving.
"He definitely won't be getting a cheap car insurance deal for many years to come."
