Parents to blame for price of young
driver car insurance

The relatively expensive cost of young driver car insurance could be the fault of parents setting a bad example, it has recently been claimed.

According to a nationwide survey, mums and dads regularly lose their temper on the road, swearing and abusing other motorists while their children are passengers in the car.

In response to the revelation, psychologists have announced that they believe road rage can be transmitted to children who are likely to imitate adults- especially their parents- and replicate their behaviour when they become older.

As a result, instead of learning safe driving lessons from their parents, children are picking up bad habits from an early age. Many are likely to become easily irritated behind the wheel, just like their parents, and so risk causing an accident due to not concentrating properly, thus losing their right to cheap car insurance.

Asked about his driving habits, Rob Nicholls, a young lobster fisherman from Hampshire, said, "One of my earliest memories is being sat in the car while my dad screamed abuse at someone who had just cut us up. I find myself doing the same thing now, so I guess I could've got it from him."

In response to the psychologists' findings, Mike Page, spokesman for Hoot Car Insurance Services, specialists in providing young driver car insurance, said, "Parents should be more aware of the influence they have over their kids, the drivers of the future, and so should make an effort to pass on better habits."
