The new Civil Partnership Act is now in place allowing same gender couples the same rights that were previously limited to married couples. The motor industry typically sees married couples as safer and therefore less of a car insurance risk. This tends to leads to cheaper car insurance deals for married couples, but not for same gender couples who have not previously been officially and legally recognised.
Tesco Car Insurance has called on the motor industry to take note of the new act and to make sure that every individual or couple is treated equally. Now the law allows same gender couples to be recognised this should apply to all aspects of society. Many insurers have recently applied the same preferential rates to same gender couples as married couples. However, the time has come for all couples to be viewed equally and to be offered the same great value car insurance rates.
