It seems today's motorists are spending more and more of their time online. Car insurance premiums are cheaper in cyberspace, as is the price of cars themselves - particularly on motoring auction sites like eBay.
Now motorists in London stand to benefit from another online service, which its creator claims solves the thorny problem of finding somewhere to park in the crowded city.
23-year-old maths graduate Anthony Eskinazi has just launched www.parkatmyhouse.com, a website which allows London residents to advertise their empty driveways and garages as parking spaces for other city motorists.
"The idea came to me in San Francisco," says Eskinazi. "I was attending a Giants' game and found there were massive queues get into the stadium car park. Yet I noticed lots of empty driveways in the neighbourhood."
The innovative site promises earnings of up to £300 per month for spaces - without ripping-off the people who pay to park in them.
Mike Page, spokesperson for the online car insurance experts Hoot Car Insurance Services, said: "The net is an essential resource for drivers - and not just for motor insurance.
"Eskinazi's site is a brilliant idea and I can see it expanding to cover the whole country."
Next time you're planning a night on the town, why not visit www.parkatmyhouse.com and check out the service for yourself?
