Given his age, you would expect Ryan Bell to be hunting around for the best deal on young driver car insurance - but the 19-year-old is more likely to be getting a cheap insurance quote for his first lorry.
Ryan, who works for Abingdon-based distributor Oxford Logistics, passed his LGV test a full two years before he would normally have been eligible to take it. It's all thanks to a government-funded initiative which aims to prepare young drivers for a career in logistics.
Ryan collected his licence, along with an NVQ qualification, after studying under the Young Drivers Scheme for a year.
"I've really enjoyed being able to train on the job," he said, "and I'm glad I didn't have to wait another two years to get where I am today."
Terry Field, principal of Oxford Logistics, said "Ryan has really proved himself over the last year. He's worked extremely hard and deserves to have a long career ahead of him."
It isn't known how much it will cost to have Ryan insured for lorry-driving - but it's likely to be a lot more than young driver car insurance would set him back.
