Car insurance news
When we're old and grey...
It's official, there’s hope for all of us who are driving around in clapped out bangers and old petrol-guzzling wrecks.
It's going to get better, much, much better.
Twenty or thirty years down the line we'll have ourselves a career, the kids (scary thought) will have left home and, fingers crossed, we'll have years and years of no-claims discount built up on our motor insurance.
And that's when the fun really begins.
New research has shown that many of today's over 50s are cruising the streets in the cars that they hungered for when they were young but had no chance of being able to afford. Now they can, and they’re making the most of it.
They've bought the cars that were cool years ago, the ones from the old TV shows - Starsky and Hutch, Magnum PI, The Saint - they've got them all.
So when we're old and crusty maybe we’ll be motoring around in Marty McFly’s DeLorean, James Bond’s BMW Z8 or even the A-Team’s GMC G-Series van. Now there’s something to look forward to.
Obviously we've got no chance right now, even with the fantastic deals offered by specialist young driver car insurance firms. So it looks like we'll have to stick with our Fiestas, our Micras and our Novas for a little while longer, but one day, not too far away, when we can afford the car insurance, we'll go out and we’ll buy ourselves that oh so beautiful beast of a motor car that right now we can only dream about.
