Young boxing legend in car accident

He might be a nationally-adored Olympic medallist with nifty feet and flying fists of fury, but featherweight boxing god Amir Khan is going to struggle to find a cheap young driver car insurance deal from now on.

The hard-hitting 19-year-old is at the centre of a police investigation after knocking down a pedestrian whilst driving his £60,000 BMW in Bolton rush-hour traffic. It's believed that the man was walking on a pelican crossing when Khan smashed into him, sending him flying into the air and crashing down through the BMW's windscreen.

An eyewitness told reporters, "Amir was very upset. He stopped immediately after the guy at the lights was hit and jumped out to see if he was okay."

The man, thought to be a local foundry worker in his 40s, was attended to by paramedics before being taken to Bolton's Royal Infirmary with a suspected broken leg. Police were called but no arrests were made and an inquiry into the accident has begun.

It was later revealed that the 2004 Olympic silver medallist has only had the convertible BMW AC Schnitzer 6-series for ten days and it was said to be his pride and joy. Khan's motor insurance providers will be aware of the incident, and if the police do decide to press charges, his chances of getting a cheap young driver car insurance policy in the future will be slim.
