Get young driver car insurance and keep your car

Young drivers that do not possess car insurance or a driving licence are risking having their vehicle seized and are contributing to an increase in young driver car insurance premiums.

The RAC carried out a survey last year that showed 30% of the UK's young motorists had driven without car insurance and 77% knew of someone that had driven without it.

Police believe that drivers without a licence or adequate motor insurance are more expected to be driving a vehicle that is unroadworthy, making them a big road accident hazard.

This means that other motorists are seeing a rise in their cheap young driver car insurance rates to compensate.

The Police Act 2005 gives the constabulary the authority to confiscate offenders' cars. Drivers are asked to present their valid documents to a police station within seven days and failure to do so will incur the penalty. To add insult to injury, rogue motorists could even face having to pay £105 recovery and up to £12 per day for storage of their impounded vehicle.

Tayside Police claim that they will only get through to these rogue motorists by making them face the threat of losing their wheels.

A spokesman from the police force commented, 'If they have no licence, no insurance, then soon they will have no car.'

If you know of someone who is driving around without motor insurance pass on this warning or report them to your local police station otherwise the cost of young driver car insurance will keep on growing.
