Young drivers reveal disturbing car insurance attitudes
Recent research has revealed that many young drivers in Britain today have an alarming attitude to car insurance.
A joint survey by motoring moguls RAC and boy-racer mag Max Power showed that a third of all young drivers questioned admitted to driving without motor insurance cover, putting other road users at risk and making themselves liable to criminal charges.
Even more disturbingly, four percent of people believed that it was perfectly acceptable to drive without car insurance because of the high cost of premiums for young drivers. The survey was intended to dispel the myth that driving without cover is a victimless crime, and also hoped to educate young people about the risks of driving without adequate cover.
National statistics reveal that uninsured drivers are six times more likely to drive a non-roadworthy vehicle, nine times more likely to be involved in an accident and ten times more likely to be convicted of drink driving.
Mike Page, spokesman for Hoot Car Insurance Services, said, "The results of this survey are a little disturbing.
"I don't know why young people think they won't be able to get a cheap car insurance deal, because there's thousands out there to be had. All they need to do is log on to the net and deal with a firm that specialise in young driver car insurance."
