A young driver is facing the loss of his right to a cheap car insurance deal after being charged with a multitude of driving offences.
22-year-old James Ratcliffe, from Suffolk, appeared in court to face 13 charges, the majority of which relate to an accident he caused while fleeing from a police car on January 13th. Among the offences he pleaded guilty to were dangerous driving, driving without motor insurance, driving while disqualified, obstructing an officer and failing to answer bail.
It is understood Ratcliffe has been receiving extensive hospital treatment as a result of the crash and was only charged in connection with it last week because he had previously been too ill.
The case has been passed on to Ipswich Crown Court but no hearing date has yet been set.
A spokesman for Hoot Car Insurance Services said, "Normally someone this age would be able to get cheap car insurance from a specialist young driver car insurance provider, but this youngster might have a bit of a problem from now on."
