Norwich Union and eBay offer new online car insurance service

Car insurance giant Norwich Union has teamed up with the internet auction site eBay to offer its 15 million UK customers an exclusive online car insurance service.

So next time you're browsing through Ford Fiesta spares, vintage denim or second-hand iPods, expect to see their new 'online car insurance hub' tempting you with banner ads and a variety of click-through motor insurance deals.

"This is the first partnership of its kind," said Mark Godfrey from NU, "It makes sense for the UK's largest insurer to link up with its leading online marketplace.

"We feel confident that this partnership will prove to be very successful with eBay's loyal customer base."

eBay and NU are building on a business relationship which began with the 'Driveaway' scheme.

Launched in March, Driveaway offers seven days' free motor insurance to people who buy cars through an eBay auction. The scheme is popular with new motorists, who might otherwise struggle with young driver car insurance costs when it came time to collect their purchases.
