Whether you have an online car insurance policy or have car
insurance with a high street provider, new- for-old-cover
amounts to the same thing.
New-for-old-cover, or replacement as new, is exactly what
it says on the tin. If you damage your car and have new-for-old-cover
as part of your car insurance policy, then most motor insurance
providers will either replace the car as new or offer you
the cash alternative.
If you do not have new-for-old-cover then your motor insurance
company will usually give you the replacement value of the
item, with a deduction for wear and tear. The amount for wear
and tear can total a few hundred pounds, meaning that you
would not be left with enough money to replace your vehicle
as new. You may then have to settle for a second hand car
or add a substantial amount out of your own pocket to make
up the difference for a new car.
It is always worth reading the small print on your car insurance
certificate or checking with your motor insurance company
to see if you have new-for-old-cover.
Some online car insurance companies, such as Hoot Car Insurance
Services, will also offer fantastic discounts for young
driver car insurance as well as the opportunity for new-for-old-cover.
