At Hoot, cheap car insurance is something we like to shout about. In fact, it's what we're famous for!
But when we're not advising customers on how to find the cheapest car insurance for young drivers, we're probably talking to them about their cars, our cars, or just cars in general.
You see to be a good salesperson, you've got to be passionate about what you're selling. For most of us here at Hoot, that passion comes from cars: kit cars, racing cars or muscle cars, or beautiful fast Italian cars, deserted country roads, finding the racing line, powering through the corn-
But I digress. The point is: if you're a bit of a petrol head too, you should think about making a career out of it.
And what better place to feed that hunger for all things automotive than a car sales showroom? Read on and see if car salesperson could be the job for you!
So what does a car salesperson do?
To be brutally honest, he or she sells cars.
People come to the showroom, looking to buy a car, just browsing, delivering something - it doesn't really matter. Get out there and sell them a car!
Selling isn't the whole picture here though, just most of it. There's also some paperwork involved, as it's the salesperson's responsibility to sort out things like financing, registration plates, road tax and delivery arrangements.
Am I the ideal candidate?
People who sell cars are often portrayed as being over-bearing and somewhat less than honest, but don't be taken in by the stereotype.
There are bad apples in every profession, but these people rarely win employee of the month. If you want to make something of yourself as a car salesperson, you'll be much better off with the following:
Pay particular attention to the last point. Staff turnover in this profession is often high as a result of stress so it's best not to give up a promising career as a librarian or yoga instructor if work pressure is a problem.
What qualifications do I need?
Your personality is your passport here - no specific qualifications are required other than a clean driving licence and a reasonable standard of numeracy and literacy. Sales experience of any description would be a bonus, though.
Many companies offer in-house training to help hone your talents. There's often the opportunity to study for qualifications on a day release basis, should that appeal.
Will it make me a millionaire?
Improbable - but not out of the question. It isn't beyond the bounds of possibility to become self-employed at some point and make your fortune selling cars.
Mind you, the potential earnings for a lowly showroom employee - anything from £9,000 to a tasty £50,000 - aren't all that bad either.
Before they were famous.
Rumours abound that hated TV prankster and trivia lover Jeremy Beadle used to be a used car salesman, but we can't say for sure.
Ignoring the fact that he's a fictional character, Fast Show regular and flash-in-the-pan sitcom spin-offer Swiss Toni (played by Charlie Higson) fits the bill perfectly. Just don't use the character for inspiration on your application form!

If you like Hoot careers advice, you'll love our young driver car insurance
Have we 'sold' you on a career in the world of car sales? If so (or even if not) take another tip from us: Hoot Car Insurance Services is the home of great motor insurance quotes.
We save loads of money by cutting out the expensive advertising budget that most other young driver car insurance companies have. Most insurers think spending millions in policyholders' money on a few TV spots or radio jingles is justifiable - we think it's an outrage!
Another outrageous expense is the amount of money some young driver car insurance firms are willing to spend on high street shops and call centres. We firmly believe online car insurance is the way forward because the overheads are much lower.
All this money saved goes straight back into the pockets of our policyholders - that's what makes our young driver car insurance some of the cheapest around.
