Q. How do I get a low cost car insurance quote from Hoot?
A. Simply click here for an online car insurance quote…
A. Yes. Our website uses 128-bit encryption that disguises and protects your personal and payment details and prevents them from being accessed by or disclosed to third parties. See website security for more information…
Q. How is it possible for you to sell such low cost car insurance?
A. As an online car insurance business we don’t spend millions of pounds on call centres or expensive television and newspaper advertising, and as a result we are able to pass these cost savings directly onto our customers, in low cost car insurance premiums.
We can make huge savings off your existing policy and unlike many of our competitors who actually charge you more if you buy over the phone, you will get the same insurance quote, whether it’s online or from one of our motor team.
Q. Do you deal with other types of insurance?
A. No
Q. What does comprehensive car insurance cover mean?
A. This is the highest level of car insurance cover you can buy. See Levels of car insurance for more information…
A. Most car insurance policies carry an excess which is the amount you have to pay every time you make a claim on your policy for damage to your vehicle.
Q. Do I have to pay an excess when the accident wasn't my fault?
If you have an accident that is not your fault, legal expenses insurance can help you claim the excess back from the negligent party or their insurer. We can provide Box Motor Legal Protect cover as an add-on to your private car policy.
Q. How do I claim back my excess from the negligent party?
A. Box Motor Legal Protect can help you recover your excess along with any other ‘uninsured losses’ not covered by your insurance policy such as recovery and storage charges or loss of earnings.
Q. Does my policy include a replacement car in the event of an accident?
A. Non fault accident
If you have an accident that was not your fault, our legal expenses insurance, Box Motor Legal Protect, can provide a free replacement car for you to use whilst yours is off the road, as long as you are able to provide details of the person who caused the accident (the third party), their vehicle registration number, their car insurance company, and we are able to get an admission of liability from the third party’s car insurance company.
Q. Am I insured to drive another person’s car?
A. Like an increasing number of other insurance providers a private car policy from Hoot does not cover you to drive other cars, unless the car in question has been loaned to you by the motor trade or our approved car hire supplier while your own car is being serviced or repaired. If you wish to drive another car then please ensure the owner of the car extends their car insurance to include you.
Q. I've been a named driver on someone else's policy so do I get a no claims discount if I get my own insurance?
A. It is only possible for the actual policyholder to benefit from a no claims discount. Please call us to discuss this.
A. Your no claims discount can be applied to one vehicle only.
