Why not go Night Driving in your VW?Here at Hoot Car insurance Services we have cottoned onto the fact that the people at Volkswagen have a brand new philosophy; they are absolutely besotted with Night Driving. They are telling us that "Night Driving is all about discovering the world anew when everyone else is sleeping" On the VW Night Driving website [www.night-driving.com] visitors can discover new routes that are waiting to be explored after dark and share their favourite routes with other VW Night Drivers.
According to VW's philosophy, Night Driving is: "Somewhere between 3 and 4am. Night time. The best time to drive. The air flows fresh and cool through your open window. All lights seem green, the road is yours. Night Driving. It's calm. It's effortless. It's for the joy of driving. No rush. No need to be somewhere at a certain time." The Night Driving campaign is fore-fronted by a TV advertisement featuring the voice of the much acclaimed Richard Burton, who was at one time the highest paid actor in Hollywood, reading a passage from Dylan Thomas. Some have argued that the essence of the ad is encouraging us to simply go for a drive and that this isn't very green living. But, others have bitten back saying that owning a luxury car like a VW Golf should be all about just dropping it all and enjoying a drive. Volkswagens are perfect for driving any time of the day or night and a recent in-house survey showed that they are particularly popular among policy holders at Hoot Car Insurance Services. VW maintain that the key selling points of all their models are their stability, power, acceleration rate and comfort; who wouldn't be interested? A map featured on the Night Driving website shows fantastic Night Driving routes throughout the UK. When you visit the website you will be presented with a map that features pinpoints showing the various routes that you should try out. The South
The first one that we looked at was in my home town of Chichester down in the South of England. The Night Driving route takes motorists from Chichester to Westhampnett then through to West Lavant and round to West Dean. Meandering through winding rural roads through the dark wilderness of the South Downs at night, this is a truly exhilarating drive. Lasting 11.76 miles, this night drive is perfect for Night Drive beginners.
The West
With Cornwall being one of the most popular tourist destinations in the UK today we thought we'd consider Night Driving in the West Country nest. For those living in or visiting the West Country why not take a nice 13.69 mile run from Falmouth over the A39 to Treskerby after an evening indulging in some of tastiest fish and chips available by the quay in one of Cornwall's most renowned harbour towns? Take in a few narrow country lanes on route and enjoy the light displays provided by passing sea vessels.
The North
For die-hard Night Drivers there's the 117.43 mile trek from Inverness to the far North of Scotland. This drive transports you from civilisation on a winding and undulating journey into the raw Scottish wilderness. Allow at least two hours to reach your destination and prepare for a lengthier drive in stormy conditions. But there are no bones about it, the night views are sensational and the sense of freedom is immense; it's just you, your VW and the vast expanse of Scotland.
The East
Fancy Night Driving in the east? Then take the route from Lowestoft up to Hopton and head back down to Oulton Broad on the A146. Cruise towards North Cove then head towards Wrentham and straight back up the A12 to where you began. This is an awesome 32.94 mile round trip, combing dual carriageways with country roads as well as a bit of urban driving, allowing you take in a touch of the east of England's finest after hours.
The Midlands
This Night Drive will get all you literary fans shaking your quills around in sheer excitement. It takes you from Stratford-upon-Avon and straight through the Old Town where Shakespeare resided from 1564. To complete this Night Drive start from Stratford-upon-Avon and go to Tredington then Shipston-on-Stour along the A429. Next get back on the B road down to Long Compton, pass Hook Norton on your way to Tadmarton Heath and from here go up to Epwell. From Epwell travel up to Sunrising then cross the A429 just past Ettington and go on up to the Old Town where the Bard himself once reigned.
