5 reasons why blank verse is better than prose

Here's five reasons, one for every stress,
Why you should switch to blank verse for your copy. It's not too far from what you do already

The shape of what you'd write in any case. Constraints help
That's all it is, a shape that in turn shapes
The ears and mind of those you're writing to.
Isn't that what we're hired to do? So why
Would you resist a potent tool like this?
There's times, of course, the shape of what you'd say
Is not the same as blank verse offers up.
But like a smaller suitcase, it compels
Examination of what's truly central
To your wardrobe. Or, I mean, your message. Aren't all the tricks for optimising sites
Constraints? And those are things that you enjoy.
Don't try to tell me that you disagree.
Don't tell me you don't want to try it now. Protect your treasured text from editors
You'll be able to say "you can't change that
Like that, you'll break the metre if you do."
So either it would make your writing safe
From what the editors would want to cut,
Or they will have to learn to scan as well,
And that's a plus for my side, either way.

Imagine Shakespeare, Milton, Wordsworth, Keats,

All agreeing with my quintuple point.

But demonstrate that it can never die,
As agèd poets do, as long as link
And hypertext and protocol can fit
Without appearing out of place. And prose?
I'll give you Dickens, but the unthought splurge
Of blogs and most of what appears online
Won't have much weight to tip the scales for you.
A distinctive beauty
A bit of beauty's worth aspiring to.
The first among you that adopt this form
Will be adopting a distinctive beauty
But the more of you that come on board,
The less distinctive it will be. Come on,
Let's make it normal, fill the internet
With iambs and their heartbeat, join the tribe
And we could raise a standard of the words
That sprawl across the internet today.
