Hoot Guide to inheriting the right car

There's only one thing better than finding really cheap car insurance for young drivers and that's inheriting a really great car.

A bad car to inherit
Some young drivers might not get so lucky; my experience of car inheritance involves my granny offering me her 1979 Fiat 126 when she decided that taxis were a better option for her (and other Dorset road users) than continuing to drive herself to her weekly Age Concern lunches.

The grungy blue rust bucket whose engine rattled like a box of matches was not my first choice of motor vehicle and I politely turned the offer down. Why oh why could it not have been a Grande Punto? Now that would have been a stroke of luck. OK, so the 126 would have been a cheap car insurance dream as it is insured in the Group 1 bracket, but honestly, the car insurance company would have had to pay me to drive that thing around.

A good car to inherit
In 2007 an appropriately named Dr Carr left his nieces and nephews the contents of his lock-up garage in Tyneside; acknowledged by his relatives as being a "very eccentric old gent," the family did not know what to expect when they opened up the garage.

However, the dusty store revealed a classic car enthusiast's dream. Parked amongst other luxury marques, such as a Jaguar E-type and an Aston Martin, was a rare 1937 Bugatti Type 57S Atalante - one of only seventeen in the world - that had sat in the garage since 1960.

An auction reserve price was set at £3 million, but experts believed the rare car could fetch twice that amount.

James Knight, the international head of Bonhams' motoring department, said of the find, "It has all the finest attributes any connoisseur collector could ever seek in one of the ultimate roadgoing sports cars from the golden era of the 1930s. It is absolutely one of the last great barn discoveries."

Cheap car insurance for young drivers who inherit a Bugatti
If you've recently inherited a car, Hoot Car Insurance Services can offer you a great deal on your car insurance, whether it's a Fiat 126 or a Bugatti 57S. Of-course, you'd probably be better off selling the classic car and buying something a little more suited to your driving needs, but you don't have to buy something as awful as the Fiat to get cheap car insurance for young drivers.

There are lots of good small cars out there, and by small we mean with an engine under 1250cc in size. Newer cars often have many more safety features than older vehicles and are cheaper to insure as they are less of a risk in a car accident. So, before you accept your grandad's kind offer, check out how much your car insurance is likely to be with Hoot.
