A woman from Denver, Colorado has written off her chances of a cheap car insurance policy after committing a string of driving offences that include ramming a police car.
The officer involved had been trying to pull the woman over as he had identified her vehicle as stolen. Rather than come along quietly, however, she drove hard into the patrol car and than took off.
The ensuing short police chase, which reached speeds of 55mph, ended when the woman lost control in a residential neighbourhood and skidded into a front garden, crashing into a tree. She was then arrested and taken into custody.
"Car thieves tend not to bother with motor insurance," said Mike Page, spokesman for the cheap car insurance experts at Hoot, "but if this woman wants to return to legitimate driving the premiums involved will surely be quite staggering."
