A successful celebrity lawyer has fought for his latest client's cheap car insurance rate and cleared her of drink driving charges, in spite of her admitting to being under the influence.
The lawyer, nicknamed 'Mr Loophole' after winning a string of motoring-related cases for his famous clientele, argued that she had been unlawfully charged by an office administrator and must be released.
His client had confessed to drinking four halves of larger before getting into her car on the night of her arrest, and subsequent breathalyser tests confirmed she was over the limit. But the case was thrown out because the proper procedure had not been followed.
"Civilian employees have limited powers but the police are taking advantage and extending them," said the lawyer, whose previous clients include David Beckham and Ronnie O'Sullivan.
Brake, the road safety organisation, have condemned the verdict, but it's not known what the defendant's motor insurance provider will make of it, or if she will continue to get the same cheap car insurance deals as before.
