Coventry City striker Kevin Kyle stands accused of two separate counts of careless driving, committed on the same day in September 2006.
Kyle, who has a history of violent and abusive behaviour, has pleaded not guilty to the charges in court in his Scottish hometown of Stranraer.
If he is convicted, Kyle can expect hefty fines and a spike in the price of his young driver car insurance - but if like him you're earning £8000-a-week, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
The first charge has been brought by Stranraer constable Adam Potts, who claims the striker drove at speed and in the wrong direction down a local dual carriageway, bearing down on his police panda car in a game of 'chicken' and forcing him to swerve out of the way.
Later on the same day and the same stretch of road, Kyle is accused of a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre on the Thomson family.
Passenger Helen Thomson, 24, said: "He got past us in his black BMW 4x4. I was certain we were going to smash into the back of him. It was terrifying."
Kyle is due to stand trial for the careless driving charges this February, at Stranraer Sheriff Court.
Mike Page, spokesman for the young driver car insurance experts at Hoot, said: "It sounds like Kyle's ridiculous salary has gone to his head.
"Obviously court fines or motor insurance penalties aren't going to have much effect, but hopefully the threat of a driving ban or lost licence will encourage him to drive more responsibly in future."
