Extra-young driver defies the authorities
You might think a nine-year-old boy has no use for young driver car insurance, and you'd be right. That's because nine-year-olds shouldn't be driving cars, particularly stolen cars, and especially not at speeds of between 80 and 90mph with the police in hot pursuit. Nine-year-olds shouldn't be doing anything that could put points on their licences or endanger the price of their cheap car insurance. In the UK, they shouldn't even be allowed in a car without the correct booster seat. But Semaj Brooker, 9, did actually do all of those things, and more besides. The Tacoma, Washington, resident is just trying to get back to his hometown of Dallas, Texas (about 2,000 miles away) because he "doesn't like the neighbourhood" his folks have moved to. The car chase in question took place when he stumbled upon a idling 1986 Acura one Sunday, and decided to drive home. Shortly after he was returned to Tacoma (the car's engine blew and he rolled to a stop on the freeway) the boy took flight again - this time by talking his way onto a Southwest Airlines flight. Again, he was caught and returned home - but it wasn't until the second change in San Antonio that Southwest staff realised Semaj was a stowaway and alerted the police. "It's like The Incredible Journey meets Agent Cody Banks," commented Mike Page, one of the young driver car insurance experts at Hoot Car Insurance Services.
