Young driver caught doing 125mph on 'herbal cigarettes'

A drugged-up festival goer was reduced to tears in the dock at Peterborough Crown Court as he was sentenced to nine months imprisonment for dangerous driving.

22-year-old Adrian Critchley was also banned from driving for the next three years, and he'll do well to find a cheap young driver car insurance quote after that.

Critchley was spotted by an unmarked police car travelling home to Peterborough from the Strawberry Fields festival in Cambridge. He was doing 125mph.

Officers gave chase but broke off their pursuit of the souped-up Vauxhall Astra for fear the speeds involved would result in a horrific pile-up should either vehicle crash. He was eventually headed off by another squad car further up the road and arrested.

Critchley, who it turned out was driving without young driver car insurance, admitted having a few drinks and three 'herbal cigarettes' during the course of the day.

In court, he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, driving without motor insurance and driving whilst unfit through drug use. As the judge passed sentence, a repentant Critchley burst into tears and could be heard asking members of his family to forgive him.
