The number of drug driver-related claims made against car insurance for young drivers could be set to soar this Christmas, according to breakdown cover firm Green Flag.
In a newly published study, researchers from the breakdown cover provider revealed that drug use and subsequent driving while under the influence of drugs are considered acceptable by worrying numbers of 17 to 24-year-olds.
Nearly a third of respondents admitted taking drugs within the past year, and one-in-ten thought it likely they would use them again this festive season.
Based on its findings, Green Flag predicts nearly 100,000 young drivers will take to the roads whilst under the influence of drugs this Christmas. Such shocking figures could well drive up the price of already expensive car insurance for young drivers even further.
