Two women in their 20s who looked certain to lose their lives in a dramatic car crash actually lost little more than the no claims bonus on their young driver car insurance policy.
The driver was thrown from her Mini as it rolled over and smashed into a central reservation outside Birmingham. Her passenger, who was left trapped inside the wrecked vehicle for 40 minutes, had to be cut free by emergency services.
Amazingly, however, neither driver nor passenger were seriously hurt. "Both women had just minor injuries which is an absolute miracle given that one of them was thrown out of the car," said a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesperson.
"It's one in the eye for all those people who've slated the Mini's safety record," said Mike Page, one of the young driver car insurance experts at Hoot Car Insurance Services.
"We can't be certain if the driver's motor insurance provider will pay out for the accident," he added. "I wonder if she'll get another Mini in the future?"
