Cheap car insurance unlikely prospect for double drink driverA man caught drink driving twice within a matter of hours escaped prison but is facing quite some time without cheap car insurance quotes. The 32-year-old was spotted driving along an Aberdeen road by police on the 30th January and was found to be twice the drink driving limit. However, the man was not to be deterred and when police stopped him again - in a different car, but on the same street - a few hours later, his breath test identified him as being three times over the limit. A spokesperson for the RAC Foundation commented on the case, saying: "This was pretty outrageous behaviour which showed utter contempt for the law as well as for the safety of himself and, more importantly, other motorists." He was given a year's probation and a three year driving ban by Aberdeen Sheriff Court, a sentence which the RAC Foundation feels was too lenient. The spokesperson went on: "Obviously the court had to take into account all of the evidence put before it, but I think there must come a point where a prison sentence has to be at the forefront of the sheriff's mind. "I certainly believe he should have been jailed as it is important the courts send out a strong message that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated. He was very lucky indeed to have walked free." Hoot Car Insurance Services spokesman Mike Page added: "It is likely that his motor insurance company won't have such a lenient view of his behaviour and he will probably see the effects when the time comes for him to look for cheap car insurance again."
