M&S Money has warned all those of us who are making holiday plans for 2007 to read the fine print on our cheap car insurance policies before jetting-off overseas.
That's because over two-fifths of respondents to an M&S survey indicated they were 'certain' that their current policy covered against every driving eventuality in the EU - a highly optimistic number given how few British car insurance companies actually provide this service.
A spokesman for M&S, currently one of the few cheap car insurance firms that does provide full European cover as standard, said: "It's important to be aware of what's required for driving in Europe as you may be caught out quite easily."
"We designed M&S car insurance to enable people to carry on with their holiday or get home safely if there's a problem with their car," he added.
Besides comprehensive motor insurance to protect you and you car in the event of an accident whilst driving in Europe, M&S also provides overseas breakdown cover for its customers; another comparative rarity on the UK car insurance market.
