Scottish drink driver forfeits cheap car insurance againA convicted drink driver from Banchory, Scotland has been caught and banned again, just ten days away from completing his first 12-month suspension. Now the 58-year-old, caught driving whilst four times over the legal alcohol limit and without a valid licence or cheap car insurance, will have to wait a further three years before he can take to the roads legally. Besides the new ban, officials at Aberdeen Sheriff Court have issued a fine of £1,250 for the offence, which took place on October 20, 2007. "Drinking and driving is extremely serious and it's lucky there was no accident here," said a spokesman for road safety charity RoSPA. "It's a big fine and a relatively long ban, but some people would have gone to jail for this sort of thing," he added. Mike Page, a member of the motor insurance quote team at Hoot, said: "It's astonishing what people think they can get away with, and what they're prepared to risk." "Even after the three years are up, it's going to be very hard for this man to find a cheap car insurance deal - and that could potentially keep him off the roads for good."
