Drinks firm could help young drivers to get cheap car insurance
A drinks company from Leven, Fife, is supporting a campaign which helps young drivers to keep hold of cheap car insurance by avoiding accidents. Diageo, which is the biggest employer in the Scottish town of Leven, is backing the 'Safe Drive Stay Alive' campaign that has been arranged by the Fife Community Safety Partnership. John Paterson, of Diageo, said: "As part of Diageo's ongoing commitment to encourage people to embrace a responsible attitude towards safe driving and being a safe road user, we are delighted to support the 'Safe Drive Stay Alive' campaign in Fife. "As a global business and a major employer in Fife, we believe this is a unique opportunity to provide 'safe driving' messages to young people as they embark on the start of their driving career. "This hard-hitting campaign highlights the risks they, their passengers and other road users face on the road and gets them to think about the potentially disastrous consequences of irresponsible driving, not only for them but their family and wider community." 'Safe Drive, Stay Alive' draws on multiple sources to warn young drivers of the potential dangers of the roads, including a bereaved family and Fife Fire and Rescue, as well as someone who was badly injured in a road accident. It is hoped that young motorists will be struck by the campaign and alter their driving habits accordingly. Not only will this help to protect them, but they will also gain favour with their cheap car insurance company if they can keep it up. A spokesman for the young driver car insurance company Hoot Car Insurance Services commented: "We applaud Diageo in taking this step towards reducing young driver casualties on the UK's roads, and hope that more companies will follow suit."
