If you happen to own an £830,000 supercar, the chances of finding a cheap car insurance deal are practically nonexistent.
That's because most motor insurance firms don't really want to take on the risk of you crashing it, or particularly writing it off. If that were to happen, the company in question could be looking at one of the largest motor insurance payouts ever.
We mention this because a £830,000 Bugatti Veyron was involved in a collision recently outside Chertsey, in Surrey.
Police sources said the car was travelling at about 100mph when it suddenly skidded, span three times, collided with a Vauxhall Astra and then rammed into some trees. The stretch of road, a known accident blackspot, has a speed limit of just 40mph.
Nobody was hurt - including a seven-months pregnant female passenger in the Astra - but the Bugatti came off a little the worse for wear.
According to one witness: "The front had been virtually ripped off, every panel was damaged and the front wheels were pointing in opposite directions."
"I've just checked, and we don't have any Bugatti Veyrons on the books," said Mike Page, one of the cheap car insurance experts at Hoot.
"That's a relief," he added.
