A five-times convicted drink-driver from the town of Billings, Montana, has once again ruined his chances of a cheap car insurance quote - despite coming up with quite a colourful alibi.
On his arrest, the 42-year-old denied he'd been driving his pickup truck when it ran a red light, narrowly avoided another truck, veered through a petrol station and ran into a lamp post.
He told officers that a unicorn had been at the wheel when the accident occurred.
The driver (not the unicorn) currently faces charges of criminal endangerment and drunken driving. His bail has been set at $100,000.
"I've seen some pretty implausible excuses used as motor insurance claims in my time, but this is my first unicorn," said Mike Page, spokesman for the cheap car insurance specialists at Hoot.
