"Completely gutted" Ormiston man turns to cheap car insurance companyA devastated man from Ormiston will struggle to get cheap car insurance after his Mercedes was torched by vandals, in what appears to be the latest in a series of attacks. The 35-year-old man had gone out with his girlfriend for a drink at his local pub but decided to pick up his Mercedes E Class the next day as he had drunk more than he planned. Unfortunately, vandals targeted what he calls his "pride and joy" whilst it was on the road near the pub. He said: "I was awoken by the police at the front door at quarter past five in the morning to say that my car had been set on fire. "I've only had the car for six months - this is worse than bad luck." The man added that he is "completely gutted" and in the process of dealing with his cheap car insurance company over the incident. In the last three months, two other arson incidents have occurred in Ormiston. The first was in October 2006, when a Peugeot 106 was stolen from nearby Haddington, driven to Ormiston and set alight. The blaze also damaged a Mercedes SLK, a Nissan Micra and a Renault, and caused minor paint damage to a nearby house. The second incident occurred on New Year's Day, when a driver was forced to claim on his motor insurance after his Chrysler Jeep was torched.
