UK car insurance news 12/06/2007
Swinton offers cheap car insurance for those with pointsThese days, having a few points on your licence needn't stop you finding a cheap car insurance quote. That's the message from Swinton Specialist, an insurance brand dealing with imported or modified cars. According to the firm's head of insurance: "A few years ago insurers might have assumed a motorist with six or more points was a reckless driver, but that is no longer necessarily the case." He cites the increasing use of sophisticated digital speed cameras on UK roads as the reason many apparently quite responsible drivers have incurred points. As a result, their importance is being played down when it comes to calculating motor insurance quotes, meaning those with six or more can still potentially get away with a cheap car insurance premium. The new cameras can monitor four lanes of traffic at once and, unlike traditional Gatso machines, don't need a new film for every 200 pictures.
