Comparison sites fail to deliver cheap car insurance
Motorists looking for cheap car insurance quotes online via financial aggregator and comparison websites could often end up disappointed.
A consumer survey has revealed that the best deals can sometimes be made by directly contacting insurance companies. an approach always recommended by young drivers car insurance firm, Hoot.
The study by campaigning group Which? found online comparison sites were misleading, often showing large variations in the cost of insurance quotes, credit cards and loans.
Which? found various weaknesses in comparison sites including failing to provide enough details about insurance and other financial deals to make an informed choice.
Would-be consumers often have to visit insurers' websites to check quotes - which seems to defeat the object of using an aggregator site.
A Hoot spokesman said, "For cheap car insurance, we always encourage people to contact us after researching car cover - we will then work to beat quotes that young motorists have found."
