Young drivers save at least £150 by shopping around
Car insurance savings of at least £150 can be made by young drivers provided they shop around, according to Britain's leading insurance organisation.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) represents all UK insurers - and it has issued the advice to help young motorists find cheaper deals.
But it has also warned customers hunting for better premiums not to be guided by price alone - they need to look at what's included in the cost such as type of cover, excess amount, windscreen cover and legal expenses.
Malcolm Tarling, an ABI spokesman, said motorists should compare prices, also advising people to check terms and conditions.
Despite current economic uncertainty in the UK, he said it was possible to find many better deals.
Hoot is a firm that specialises in insuring young drivers. A company spokesman said people would be wise to shop around then contact Hoot to beat the best quote they uncovered.
"The price of car insurance for young drivers is more expensive than for older motorists - but significant savings can be made by researching the market," he said.
