A survey published today by Transversal software services has indicated that there is room for improvement if the online insurance industry is to maintain high levels of customer services.

The study investigated the speed and quality of responses to customer queries, and found that two thirds of the most popular websites were unable to answer some of the most common queries. As far as response speed is concerned the average time taken to respond to email queries was 33 hours.

Commenting on the findings, chief executive of Transversal, Davin Yap, said: "Organisations need to use the same standards of common sense principles applied to other channels such as in branches or over the phone.

"Online customers want fast access to the right information without the need for complicated, time consuming searches that don't provide the right answers."
