According to a recent study, people searching for cheap car insurance prefer to deal with UK-based call centres.
Some 90 per cent of consumers said that they would prefer to deal with a call operators based on these shores, rather than in India or one of the other call centre hotspots.
Just one in twenty people asked thought that the car insurance industry's increasing reliance on outsourcing was a good thing.
"While Britons may be becoming increasingly familiar and comfortable with having their financial needs serviced offshore, clearly there are many for whom it is still a concern," said Simon Ripton, current account manager at Alliance & Leicester.
